Volunteer Opportunity
The Salvation Army is looking for volunteers to help with their after school programs!
Countless students in our community look to after school programs as opportunities to learn and develop new skills, receive help with homework, and simply have a safe place to go after school. While the pandemic has changed what these programs look like, the Salvation Army has stepped in to help meet the need.
Currently, they’re looking for drivers who would be willing to pick students up at school between 2 and 2:45pm and take them to the Salvation Army and then pick them up at 5:30pm to drop them off at home. They have the vehicles. They have the students. They just need the drivers, and you don’t even need to have a commercial driver’s license.
Volunteers would need to commit to both times if possible. This helps with consistency for the program and the children you’ll be taking home.
Anyone interested will need to fill out a volunteer form to be cleared to drive the Salvation Army vehicles, and work with their students. Volunteers can’t have had any involvement with Child Protective Services, or any violent offenses against a child or anyone else. EVSC will also require an online volunteer application, since volunteers will be picking up from the school and transporting children.
If you’re interested in helping out, please contact Tara Oakley by PHONE or EMAIL.
Without transportation the Salvation Army can’t provide this much needed after school program to the families at Cedar Hall School. Please consider how you can step in and make a difference today!
